If you love traditional styled corn bread I think you will really enjoy this twist to the classic corn bread recipe. My daughter was never a fan of corn bread until I started making this Cheesy Corn Bread Recipe about 15 years ago and now it has become one of our favorite types of homemade bread.
This Cheesy Corn Bread goes great with any of your pasta meals or tex-mex meals.
Cheesy Corn Bread Recipe
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 large egg
2 1/2 cups cooked or canned whole kernel corn
1/2 cup grated American cheese
1/4 cup salad oil
Sift together the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Beat in the large egg, stir in the corn and the American cheese. Stir in the salad oil. Pour mixture into a lightly greased baking pan (8" square pan works well) and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.
